One of the mysteries of the world of film and television is why season three of the Veronica Mars series ended so oddly and why season four never happened.

The lack was compensated for by this film, financed - it‘s reported – by fans. I didn’t contribute but I am really curious to see it.

And what a weird experience it is. For quite some time we’ve been watching the series, two episodes each evening, and now suddenly all the characters are ten years older.  A little heavier, a few wrinkles, grown up jobs. Some of them. Wallace is a teacher (and unfortunately plays only a small role here), Mac has a wild short haircut and is working for big bucks for the Kane corporation, Weevil is settled down with a wife, a kid and his own business, and Veronica is about to start working as a hot shot lawyer in New York. 

Other things haven’t changed.  The class war still rages, the ethnic conflicts still flourish, Keith is still not sheriff but is still a loving father, Dick is still disgusting, Gia is still ditzy and Logan is suspected of murder. And oh yes, Veronica is with Piz but still in love with Logan who’s still in love with her.

It’s a surprisingly good film. It’s quite exciting, the characters are still likeable (or hateable), Veronica is older, wiser, a little weary but still feisty and the story is just fine. But why oh why did they have to turn Logan into a fighter pilot? Totally wrong and he looks ridiculous in that hideous white uniform. This lowers the rating significantly.

But because the film succeeds in retaining quite a lot of the character of the series
