Desperate for money to buy medicine for
his baby brother Cory (Gearhart) steals his grandfather’s gun and robs the
local shop.
Flashback to everyone he met while
bicycling there, a story for each of them.
Alexa (Kitcher) is a moped courier who
picks up a package from Sahel (Negahbond), helps Dom (Bradford) escape from the
drug gang (Juvenile and Anderson) after him because he’s going to witness
against one of them. Doke (Walken) is a
long-haired homeless weirdo who rambles philosophically to his friend Brown
(Prentice). Two cops are sent to arrest Sahel. Marti (Whelan) is violent, Clyde
(Slater) plays by the rules. There are intermittent reports of the Vatican
about the theft of the shroud wrapped around Jesus at his death. A little black
girl, Few (Johnson), wanders around eating candy bars.
Yes, it’s all connected. Violently.
Bizarrely.
Walken is brilliant, as always, but it’s the wise-beyond-her years Johnson as Few who really shines in this odd little gem.
