Relentless poverty plagues the McCourt
family in the town of Limerick, Ireland, in the 1930s. Unemployment, alcoholism,
fanatical and tedious Catholicism don’t help.
Grim and well-acted, it is still boring
and somewhat superficial. It moves me as little as the book did.
