Mi-ja (Jeong-Hie) is 66 years old and
raising her grandson Wook (Da-Wit) who she learns is one of a group of boys who
gang raped a classmate, leading to her suicide. She has no money and is
diagnosed with Alzheimer.
Her only wish now is to write a poem. She
searches for beauty, for words, and she carries on.
The film is contemplative, melancholy,
and slow. It deals quietly with the pain of life. It’s interesting but I’m not
as lyrical over it as the professional critics. I just can’t feel deeply for Mi-ja.
