Two
aging sisters, daughters of the late priest in a remote village in 19th
century Denmark, carry on with his religious meetings. One rainy night Babette
(Audran ) appears, fleeing from war in France. With them she finds a new home.
She charms
the villagers but their feuds and fanatical puritanism continue. When she wins
the lottery Babette decides to do something about it.
To be honest, I don’t know why I liked it so much the first time I saw it. It’s nice enough but not very interesting this time.
