Norway’s
fjords are incredibly beautiful. Many of the mountains towering above them are
unstable. In 1905 a chunk of mountain crashed into the fjord below causing
death and destruction by the tidal wave it caused.
Kristian
(Joner) is a geologist. Idun (Dahl Torp) is manager of a big hotel. They have
two children Sondre (Oftebro) and Julia (Haagerud-Sonde).
Something
is happening to their mountain. Kristian fears the worst but his colleagues
hesitate. It can’t be that bad, can it?
It can
and we know it’s coming but it’s a slow, suspenseful build-up. Then it hits and
chaotic excitement follows. The aftermath is grim.
One of the best disaster films I’ve seen. The film ends with the statement that this is going to happen in reality, sooner or later. We just don’t know when. This mountain and others are under constant monitoring.
