Trainwreck
– my life as an idiot 2007
- Director: Todd Harrison Williams
- Based on the book by Jeff Nichols
- Cast: Seann William Scott, Gretchen Mol, Deirdre O’Connell, Jeff Garlin
- Personal “oh yeah him/her” reaction, i.e. have seen this actor in:
- Gretchen Mol – Manchester by the Sea, Donnie Brasco
- Deirdre O’Connell – Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Six Feet Under
- Charley Murphy – Quirke, Philomena, Misfits
- Why? The title.
- Seen: 7 November 2022
Jeff (Scott) is a recovering alcoholic but that’s
not his main problem. He also has Tourette’s, ADD, bad balance, dyslexia and
learning disabilities. And he’s boring. He goes to countless AA meetings and
never stops talking. He’s from a rich family and he still calls his mother
(O’Connell) Mommy.
This might be the weirdest film I’ve ever seen. It’s
not exactly boring, it’s not exactly funny, it’s not exactly absurd, or
irritating, or tragic, or a social statement. It might be all of the above.
It’s supposedly a true story.
Since I honestly have no idea what think of this
film I guess I will have to give a middle-of-the-road.
