In Memorium ♥ Hal 1945.10.18 – 2023.02.26
This is one of the first films we saw
together in the 70s and we both liked it so much that we went back to the local
cinema the next evening to see it again.
Years later we got the DVD and liked it
just as much.
Now I’ll see it again and remember.
Young Harold (Cort) loves to fake his own
suicide, to the annoyance of his mother (Pickles). He also likes to go to
funerals of people he doesn’t know, where he meets 79-year-old Maude (Gordon) a
flamboyant free spirit with a dark past.
Thus begins the most astonishing and
beautiful week-long love affair in filmdom. It’s a film about surviving,
living, loving and knowing when it’s time to move on.
Beautiful music by Cat Stevens when he
was still Cat Stevens.
I still love it, Hal.
