Adam (Ruffalo) is a sex addict and goes
to meetings. He’s been sober for five years. Mike (Robbins), who also does AA
and has anger issues, is his mentor. Neil (Gad) gropes women on the underground
and is sentenced to take part in the program. He doesn’t take it seriously.
We follow these three men. Adam meets
Phoebe (Paltrow). Mike’s alcoholic son (Fugit) returns after being gone for
some years. Neil is a sleazy creep and also a doctor who gets fired for filming
up a colleague’s skirt and is forced to take his addiction seriously.
This is not a comedy, nor is it
feel-good. Addiction is hell.
Ruffalo and Robbins live up to my high expectations.
