  • Why? I don’t remember but the cast is good.

There’s a lot of working-class pride in God’s Pocket but even more clannish neighbourhood pride, gambling, drugs, crime, death, booze and all.

An obnoxious young druggie is obnoxious one time too many and becomes dead. The neighbours react in different ways. That’s about it really. It has moments of absurdity but not enough to carry it.

The cast is impressive but what dreary people. What a dreary film. It had potential but falls flat.

 2* of 5 (Hal gives it 3*)
