 As a retired history teacher I’m well aware of the instrumental role Margareta played in the Kalmar Union of Sweden, Denmark and Norway in the 14^th and 15^th centuries. Like most monarchs she did some good and a lot of bad. I’ve never been a fan, and the trouble with this film is that monarchs don’t interest me. Unless they’re Shakespeare or Queen Elizabeth I.

       This is neither. It’s a handsome production but often boring. But the ending is dramatic and the acting is good.
