Young Yao (Basse) hitches rides from his village in eastern Senegal to get his hero’s autograph, Seydou (Sy) a film star who has written his autobiography. He is in Dakar for a Bicentennial. Yao finds him and piques his interest. On a whim he decides to take Yao home to the boy’s village. On the journey, he discovers his own Senegalese roots.
It’s a nice little travelogue film about
friendship and identity
