There are only a handful of survivors,
all men, after an unexplained apocalypse. There is no dialog, it seems they are
unable to speak. Mostly we follow a lone
man (Jolivet) who comes to a city in ruins. He is attacked by a brute (Reno)
who tries to kill him and helped by another (Bouise) who has a secret.
It’s all very surrealistic and
mysterious, almost whimsical in its absurd dreadfulness. The black and white
filming is a plus and it’s fascinating in its way but what’s the point? And the
really stupid ending just makes it worse.
It’s Besson’s first film.
